Give the gift of a "Senior Experience"

Not having the resources to participate in senior year experiences is yet another way in which foster youth feel “different.” Will you help provide a way for these youth to participate with their peers and celebrate graduation?

We are fundraising for at-risk seniors to have the opportunity to participate in their senior activities.

*Luis had been in and out of foster homes from the age of 9 until his senior year in high school. As an organization, xHope provides scholarships to students just like Luis, which is why we read his essay titled "How foster care has changed my life." We realized rather quickly how many students just like Luis do not get to "experience" the celebrations offered their senior year in high school. He wrote, "foster care has helped me to become strong, I am always different not because I want to be, but because I do not have the same options as other kids. I am very different." After reading more into his essay our scholarship committee began to dream about this "Sponsor a Senior" program. What if we could gather families and businesses who would want to send these seniors on their senior trip? Purchase their cap and gown? Make sure they are gifted with a year-book? Pay for senior portraits? We imagined this being true for every foster/adopt child in Sacramento County and we need your help to make it possible. Our "Sponsor a Senior" program will allow seniors to apply through xHope. They will be required to turn in an application and letter of recommendation from their school counselor or social worker. We will be gifting senior activities and experiences to foster/adopt students like Luis who desire to participate but can't afford to do so. Would you Sponsor a Senior annually?
